I had came across a new photo app on tuesday and I'm having lots of fun playing with it! Here are some pictures I recreated with Pictoon!
For those who has an iphone and is keen to have some silly fun, check it out here to read more about this app. Alternatively, you can download a lite version from the app store to try it out!
The full version offers more "stickers" and 2 more "balloons" and doesn't have the watermark at the corner of the photo! And it's only priced at $0.99! Hehehe!

Go download and have some fun now!

Orchard Road flooded!

For the 1st time ever! Or rather, 1st time in my life I have seen Orchard Road flooded! The water were knee-high and it was from a major downpour since wee hours in the morning! Friends were super excited on Facebook! Everyone was posting images and videos of the flooded Orchard road!

Here are some pictures I took from Facebook!

Hermés at Liat Towers!
Any damaged Birkin bags?!?!

Starbucks, Wendy's and Massimo Dutti were all submerged in muddy waters!

Check out the video posted by Shi Ying's friend here!

I am considering to go take a look myself after work later!!!! Heeheehee!

Boring weekend ahead!

It's Friday and I am not excited!

The cause of my boring weekend - PC Show! Every 3 months, I have to suffer a boring weekend due to an IT-related kind of show. Boo were required to assist in all the different shows that usually spread across 1 weekend in the following months - March, June, September and December. So, if it's not the IT show in March, then is the PC Show in June, if not it'll be COMEX in Sept or eventually, SITEX in December. So predictable.

Boring, boring, boring.

Told Shiying that I should probably start planning for my wedding this weekend since I will be so free! But I think highly unlikely I'll get anything done! Just so not inspired today to start thinking what shall I do! Although I wrote on my wedding blog that I am in a current "information-overload" state-of-mind! Hahaha! I think maybe that's why I stop thinking already!!!!! Hahahaha!

I know what to do when I am absolutely bored! Shall look at this video I took of Boo last weekend! He and his atrocious Korean! Hahaha! Cracks me up every time I watch it! Wahahaha!

Watch Mr. Boo and his weird-accented Korean!
Hehehehe!

Sweet Daddy

I was checking my email this morning when a picture of a cute little girl at the bottom of Nylon Mag's e-mailer caught my attention. She is a blond long hair girl, about 4 or 5 years old, wearing her PJ and saluting while in front of her was a plate with something that resembled the American flag. A closer look at the little thumbnail and text, the "American flag" was actually a pancake! I had to check it out! This father Jim is really such a great father! Making very cool and interesting pancakes for his daughter, Allie, which is such a cutie!!! Here are some really cool ones I like!
Jim's cute daughter, Allie!
This was the picture that caught my attention!

How funny looking can the Alien get?

How can anyone make a 3D pancake?!
I'm amazed!

Hahahaha! Pancake-tasting Taco! Nice!
Like Playdoh which you can eat!

This is totally AWESOME!!!
Make a bridge and eat it?!
How good can it get?!?!?! Hahaha!

It sets me thinking after looking at the devotion of Jim to his daughter, Allie.... It's really quite something for fathers to spend time in the kitchen to whip out cool breakfast for their children!
It's really not a culture in our Asian society for men to do something like that. I do think that are a few out there but not many. It's a job more women are willing to take up.

Asian guys are preoccupied with making more money for the family. It's been like that for the past few decades or even centuries! Usually, as I see it, the way of showing concern is mainly by providing more money so that the family can have a comfortable life. It's really not a bad thing I say. Who doesn't need money? The only 1 thing that we can't get enough of besides Love, of course!

The route has never been easy.

The route to earning more comes with a price to pay. Usually the children gets neglected in some families. In some cases, the fathers will be too tired on the rest day to want to do something for their children. And making something for the kids; in this case, cooking; the usual male counterparts will gladly pass the job to their wives! It's another Asian stereotype that the kitchen belong to the women only!

Of course I don't mean ALL fathers. I am sure there are exceptions out there. I just hope there will be more!

To all the fathers out there, do something for your little darlings today!

Check out Jim's site here!

Merry Christmas...............

It's Christmas eve and I am all alone.

Well, not really alone since Regina is here in the office with me too.

I'm still feeling pissed about the fact that Casper's colleague actually planned their company Christmas dinner on Christmas eve. It's Christmas eve! Most people are celebrating Christmas eve with their loved ones! Who wanna spend Christmas with a bunch of people you probably love to hate? I mean, seriously, how many colleagues do you not like?! I'm being truthful here!

I was giving Casper a hard time just now over the phone. Initially, I was fine but the more I thought of it and the more people sympathize with me, the more pissed off I got! Argh! I know he doesn't have a choice but he seemed quite happy that he will be going to the ktv with his colleagues after the dinner. He also claimed that the rest of his colleagues' spouse or other half is totally cool about the company dinner happening on Christmas eve! So now I'm the imbalanced one ya! I don't believe!

The fact that I'm going to Taiwan in another 5 days time didn't cheer me up either. So it sets me thinking, it's just another day, why am I feeling so uptight? I seriously doesn't know the answer myself too. Blame it on the stereotypes!

Oh well......

I should stay positive! I hope my next Christmas eve will be a fruitful one.

Me, at my neighbour's house when I was 3.

Me, now.

Dearest friends, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas! ♥

I'm back!!!

Ahhh... Alot of friends had been asking me about my blog! It has been dead for nearly half a year!

Hear my explanation!!!
I'm really too busy!!! (I know you'd probably be rolling your eyes now cos it's really a very lousy excuse! But hello! I have a day job ok! Huhu...)

OK, so here are the reasons why I had failed to maintain my blog!

1. My 30th birthday party!

The whole of June and 1st week of July, I had been super busy with planning my party and did I mention I hand-made most of the decorations and my super cute invites?! That period I was staying up late folding paper boats, cutting little cartoons of myself!

2. Work

Work was super piled up! I had to design the Spring Summer 2010 collections, coordinate photo shoots(4!), do touch-ups for the models (close to 100 images!!!) and liase for a website for PC!!!

3. Travel

In October, my team and I finally made the Europe trip! It has been in the talks for almost 3 years already! So, we did finally made it to Barcelona, London and Paris for about 10 days! It has been 4 years since I've stepped foot on European soil! Honestly, I was dreading the entire trip at first! I really hated the way we Asians were treated there! I hated the food especially the cold hard bread rolls and endless meals of pastas, pastas and more pastas! That seems to be the only food we knew how to order! Haha! Ok, more about the trip later!

4. Facebook and iPhone

Hehe... Guilty as charged! I'm on facebook everyday now! Especially when I started owning my iPhone in September! All I have to do is to go home, on my wireless modem and touch the facebook app and I'm connected to everyone! My desktop is collecting dust on top of my table now! Haha! Maybe blogspot should have an app for blogging so I can start blogging more(excuses!!!)!

There you have it! My good reasons(uh-hm!) why I fail to blog!!! Heehee!

I will try to blog as frequent as I can since I can now use my phone to blog as well! How fun!

Ps. This entire entry were written on the MRT! Yes, on my beloved 小白2! (for those who doesn't know yet, 小白2 is the name of my phone!)

My parcel arrived!

Last week, I caved in and ordered some items from Martha Steward Crafts! I have been pondering like forever already! I was very concerned about the shipping charges initially (US$21.95 for 1st item leh!) but Heck it lah! I am really dying to own some of their lovely punches!!!!
(picture from marthastewartcrafts.com)
Bone Folder
Perfect tool for scoring and folding!
(picture from marthastewartcrafts.com)

Doily Lace Edge Punch!
My favourite!

(picture from marthastewartcrafts.com)
Double Scallop Edge Punch!

So lovely right! I actually wanted more items but I am like kinda broke now! Anyway, I haven't ordered from them before and I didn't know the service standard so I didn't know what to expect too.

But I was very pleased with the fast delivery! Within 1 week, I received my parcel via Fedex! Now I know why it cost so much for the delivery. Not like some merchants who will charged you alot and send via normal post services.

Yay! My parcel screams for attention!

Yay! My circle-cutter, bone folder and 2 punches are
nicely presented in their pretty packaging!

The Doily Lace punch is really to-die-for!
The effect is very gorgeous lor!

I got so excited I immediately tried to make something with all these tools!

So I made a money envelope for Dulcy!
It's her bday next Sat!
Look at the lovely Doily Lace edge!
Nice right!!!

I also tried cutting some circles with the circle-cutter!

Here's a look at how it works!

I am having so much fun! I am also dying to have a HUGEEEE Craft table lor!!! It's really very hard to do something while confined to the tiny space on my bedroom floor!

Pray and Hope I will get a new pad soon!!! I will make sure I will have a huge craft table! Hehe!

I'm having a Partee!!!!!!!

My E-invitation on Facebook!

I had finally decided the theme for my big 3-0 birthday bash! It's gonna be Nautical Chic! It's predictable but is the easiest theme to make everyone dress up!

I so want the "Ah-Lian" theme but I have mixed reviews for this theme, saying that it's too difficult lah or they won't wanna be caught dead in the 90s Ah Lian fashion! Hahaha! Some of them are quite excited though! Especially Celine, who was going to borrow her ah lian friend's Ferragamo Bow hairband (the must-have Lian accessory of the 90s) and a Sonia Rykiel quilted bag just for my party!

Sorry Celine! I'm gonna disappoint you! But I am doing one of your favourite theme too!

I am so excited about my party and I guess some of my friends too but not some of the invited guests though. Well, I guess it's just another party for them then......

I'm so going to source for nautical stuff to decorate the place and also nautical-inspired games!

I finally went to the Dentist.......

and had my rotten wisdom tooth taken out!!!!!

An artwork for the collection I did for Young Hearts Story Bra
back in 2002.

I am so proud of myself you know! I had the worse fear of going to the dentist and I finally gathered all my courage and went and had my rotten tooth of 3 years taken out! It's gross, I know! Wahaha!

My primary school dental nurse was the cause of my phobia of dentist! Until now, I can still remember the dental visits I had in primary school. Especially in Primary 1 or 2, the visits were very frequent. I recalled shaking in my seat whenever I saw fellow classmates walking pass the corridor with a yellow dental card on his/her hands and prayed hard that my name will not be called. And whenever I got unlucky, I would walked as if I was a inmate going for my death sentence! Wahaha!

The dental nurse had super tight curls and would wear a typical nurse uniform. She would scream at all of the students irregardless what we do or don't do.

"SIT THERE AND BE QUIET!!!!!", is all I heard once I stepped into the room, ALONE. (As if I can be very noisy alone lor, I was like going to cry liao!)

"Come here!!!!!"; "Rinse your mouth!!!!"; "Open your mouth BIGGER!!!!!!"

She was never gentle. Never caring.

I was traumatized.

So when I went to secondary school, I opt out for dental visits. I was so glad I don't have to go to a dentist anymore! But of course, now that I am older, I kinda regret not taking care of my teeth.

I hate that nurse.
Think my tooth was more like the on the the right!
Wahahaha!

Nevertheless, I started going to the dentist again! I am very happy I had taken my tooth out and going through it, although I did shiver til I almost puked! Haha! It was still a great relief for me!

In comparison, this new dentist I went to was so gentle! I will highly recommend him although the place's a lil ulu lah! I still think Dentists is a male job. Females are too rough for this! I will never go to a female dentist ever! Hahaha!!!!

It's Boo's Big 3-0!

Boo just turned 30 on Monday! To celebrate his big 3-0, we went to House for dinner! Was planning to surprise him but in the end, I was so busy, I couldn't make it in time to go pick him up!

The stupid taxi driver nearly spoiled the evening when he took an extremely long route to Dempsey! Usually it would have cost be about $6+ to reach from my office at Outram but this time, it cost me $11!!! I was freaking pissed! I had to keep my cool, if not the whole evening will be bad lor! Curse him ar!

So! Here we are at House, having a simple but great time!

Boo's looking real happy!
The Ice coffee Boo ordered didn't came with milk and when we requested for it, they came back much later with a tiny espresso cup filled with hot steamed milk.
I liked the tiny cup! So cute!

Skinny Pizza!
My 2nd time having this super crispy pizza!
Very nice!
But I ordered the wrong one this time. I should have gotten the squid ink one...
The Salami and pesto was alright lah, but there is feta cheese on it though....
My portion!

Boo taking a big bite!
We ordered the American Sliders as well!
I had it the other time with Celine and the Boeys and I like beef patty!
Oh! And not forgetting the lovely duo fries!
Delicious truffle fries and sweet potato fries combination!

The burgers looked so cute!

The Guiltless Chocolate Cake!
It's realllllly verrrryyyy Swwweeeeet!
I feel it's way to sweet to be called Guiltless!!!!
Oh well, the cake was suppose to be served for another purpose!
Which is.........

.... for me to put this on! Hahaha!!!!

My Boo acting cute with my tiny hand-made card.

Boo's making a wish real hard!!!
Look at his face!
Hahahahaha....

Still wishing!!!

It was Boo’s 1st time to Dempsey (he knows he is “suah-ku”!) and he really liked it.

A big 3!
Mine's coming soon too! Yikes!!!!

Us, with my tiny card for keepsake!

And we headed home after that!☺

Boo waving goodbye to me!
Bye~!!!

What a Surprise!!!!!!
I had to tell this story!
Earlier on Monday morning, Boo's colleague, Tracy, msn-ed me to ask if I can join them for lunch at Tiong Bahru Plaza to sort of surprise but I couldn’t as I had to clock in and out for lunch. So I offered an alternative to show up with a birthday cake to surprise him when he is having lunch! And I had made them change plans to have lunch at Great World instead so it would be nearer for me.
So came lunch time, I had lunch at the food court and continue to liaise with Tracy with the timing. I even helped to get the cake so as not to rouse any suspicion!
After getting the cake from Sweet Secret, I went straight to the Crystal Jade Kitchen on level 3 with the cake. I met Tracy, who showed me where Boo and his team were. Not thinking too much of anything, I lit the candles and slowly paced my way to the private room.

“Happy Birthday!”, I said when I step into the room.

Boo’s face lit up and I looked at the rest of his colleagues. At the corner of my eye, I saw there were another table next to theirs and I thought it was his colleagues too, so I turned and look……..

I saw a really familiar face. It was Justin, my boss’s son and I got a shock! It took me a good 5 seconds to realize my Boss was there too! And I turned and my familiar faces I saw! Not only some of my colleagues were there, the Taiwanese buyers were there too! Oh my god!!!

I was utterly embarrassed and shocked! People both familiar and strangers were looking at me and the commotion I caused!

My boss stood up and congratulated Boo. (Yes! CONGRATULATED! He went like, “oh your birthday ah, gong xi gong xi ah!”) I was like thinking, “gong xi???!!!!” Hahaha!

After the short 5-10 minutes commotion, I quickly made an excuse to go and exited the private room and head back to the office!

LayC, Kim and Dulcy were waiting for me at the taxi stand and they couldn’t believe my luck too! Goodness!!!!

I told them, “guess the surprise was really for me, not Boo!”

Hahaha!

Tiramisu, KL and so much more!

This is my 3rd time making tiramisu and I'm still exploring the different receipes and methods of perfecting it!

For the recipe below, I have used Cognac instead of the Marsala wine which was widely used in many recipes I've seen online. But I had just bought a bottle of Marsala wine earlier and I will used it for my next round which is later! Think I'm super addicted to making this coffee dessert!

My mum who is slightly diabetic is also very addicted to eating it! I am trying very hard to keep it away from her! Hehehe...

So here's the recipe and the method. Feel free to use the recipe and try to make one soon!

Miss E's Tiramisu

Ingredients

500g mascarpone cheese
4 eggs
4 tablespoons of sugar
6 tablespoons of Marsala wine/Cognac
4 tablespoons of milk
½ cup of black coffee
cocoa powder

Method

Add the milk , 2 tablespoon of cognac and 1 tablespoon of sugar
into the black coffee and mix well.
Leave it to one side for it to cool to room temperature.

Separate the yolks in one mixing bowl.
(I only have 1 mixing bowl, thus have to use my mum's
tradtional kueh-making tray for the yolk mixture...hehehe).

Put the whites into another mixing bowl.

Add the remaining 3 tablespoon of sugar, and 4 tablespoon of cognac into the yolks.

Mix well with a whisk.

Add the mascarpone cheese onto the yolk mixture and mix well til even.

The mixture should looked something like that.

After you are done with the yolk mixture, start whisking the egg-whites!
I don't own an electrical beater lor, so I am using my mum's vintage
spring egg-beater (older then me, ok!).

This is hard work lei!
Beat, beat, beat, beat, beat!!!

Can see that it's beginning to become fluffy?!

Finally!
Whip the egg-whites until stiff peaks form and you are done!

Pour the fluffy mixture into the yolk-cheese mixture and start folding in.

Looked like clouds!
Continue to fold into the mixture until everything is even!

Voila!
All done!

Time to soak the sponge fingers!
BIG TIP!: soak ONLY the SUGARED side of the fingers!
Try not to pour too much coffee onto the fingers if not it will get very soggy!

Cute dessert cups from daiso is great for tiramisu!
At only $2 for 7 mini cups with lids!

Lay the fingers on the bottom of the container.
You may also use the rectangle microwavable containers that you might have recycled from a tabao meal!
As the containers are too small for my sponge fingers, I had to break it to fit!
Always placed the soaked side facing up too!

After you had the bottom layer of sponge fingers, pour the cheese mixture to cover over it.
Remember to pack the fingers close together!

A special method which I have seen from this lady who shared her recipe online - sprinkle cocoa powder on top of every layer of sponge fingers before to you pour the mixture!

So here's how it's gonna be like!
sponge fingers -->cocoa powder -->cheese mixture -->
sponge fingers -->cocoa powder --> cheese mixture.

Ta-dah!!!
Almost all 7 cups are filled!

There is 1 cup which was half-filled. I think the eggs I used were a bit small therefore there wasn't enough mixture for all 7 cups.

Place the cups into the fridge and chill for at least 8 hours before you consume.

Lastly, sprinkle cocoa powder generously before serving!

Miss E's version - get a small bar of milk or dark chocolate, see which ones would you prefer, put in into the fridge to make it harder and when it's hard enough, take a small knife and start shaving some chocolate bits and sprinkle on top of the cocoa powder.

Very shiok!!!! For the serious chocolate-addicts like me!!!

Try it and let me know how's your results!

Saturday with Celine and Bert
Last Saturday while Boo was working his ass off at the IT show, Celine and Bert baby-sitted me! We went to shop, eat and hang out. It was pretty cool!
Celine in a very sexy back-less top
which you obviously can't see and she would have kill me if I tried to make a big fuss about the top by snapping pics and posting it online! Hehehe!

Bert finally let me take a nice picture of her!
Hehehe.... She's all decked out in adidas lor!
That day she bought 3 more adidas tops and 1 more pair of adidas sneakers.
She intends to build a 7-day adidas wardrobe.
And Yes, she works there.

To KL with Dee and Shiying!

Was told to make a trip with Delia and Zihanna (Shiying's new nick!) to KL to make a presentation for the Isetan buyer on tuesday morning therefore we had to fly in from monday morning just in case we turned up late if we had flew in from tuesday morning instead~!

BORING!!!

The only excitement I had was the shopping! It was quite shiok to shop in KL lah with Sing dollar slightly stronger then the Ringgit.

Lunch at T1 at 3.15pm.
Popeyes chicken!
That day the chicken really tasted quite bad lei! There was a very strong frozen chicken taste and it was quite oily lor!
I think their standards had continued to drop further!

Having fun inside the gate while waiting for our Air Asia flight!
This is my 1st time going budget!

The "receipt-like" boarding pass.
I didn't know they have to save on this also.
Worse still, the counter staff also had a "budgeted" attitude!
Was telling the girls that Air Asia even had to SAVE on the smiles and the 'thank-you's!
Lousy attitude!
PUI!

Zihanna and I were busy talking pictures of each other!

We're reaching our hotel!
The supposely to look like sphinx statue looks suspiously like a lion!
Wahaha!!!

We were treated to dinner at Tony Romas!
There were no pork ribs for the obvious reasons lah and we had forgotten about it!
Here's the famous onion loaf!

The funny waiter from Bangladesh, Raya, showed us the different sauce they have to go along with our food. But I felt there wasn't a need because we didn't even order any ribs!
While explaining, he drew a smiley face on the plate!
Free mini baguettes as starters!
Shiying and me both had a "blacken" salmon!
Very delicious!!!

By "blacken", it doesn't mean chao ta (burnt) lah!
It was a method of cooking they used - to cover the salmon with spices before they pan-fried it!
The result - nice and crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside!

Huge dinner serving of chef salad to share!
The servings at Tony Romas were huge and we can't really finished the food! My Malaysians colleagues had to pack the food back in order not to waste it!

After the presentations, we went kuku!!!!

Our current favourite thing to do!
Action shots!!!!
Zihanna suggested we do some actions pose while waiting!

Zihanna shows you that she is young and full of vitality!

I am trying very hard to jump high!!!
I lao liao lei!!!!
Think this is my highest caught on film!
Wahahahha!!!!
Delia's doing a good job too!
Yeah!☻

My recent obsession - hair velcros!
Machiam like "gou-yuks"(medicated plasters)!!!
Wahahah!!!!
Got mine from Watsons just now.
Been looking for a pink one!
I had forgotten to get my colleagues to get some for me when they went to Taipei!
It's super handy lei! Perfect for those with bangs!
Now, I don't need any more clips to clip my fringe up whenever I do my make-up!
This 'hook-like' fibers hold on tight to your hairs and doesn't fall off easily!
Go get yours now!!!!
It's only $4.95 for 2 pcs in a pack!
Sasa sells them too!
Ok! I think I had blogged long enough!!!! More then 3 hours liao! I shall go sleep! So tired!
