Finally....I finish this post!

Nana's farewell dinner party has an unexpected twist of events! It was started with complaints, then it got uncomfortable, then we braved ourselves in the darkness, grabbed attention and explored the unexplored! Quite haps right! Somemore it all happened with our "fake-its" get-ups!

Throughout the week, we were still discussing where to go dinner. Nana wanted Dempsey but still undecided which part of Dempsey. Most of the restaurants or wine places in Dempsey all so Atus one. Wanted to go Barracks by House but I told them our theme don't really match with theirs. So in the end, Nana suggested going to The Wine Company because the food there quite nice and the prices not too Atus for us. So LayC called to make reservations. But the person over the line suugested we call WOODS which is also by them since most of them wanna sit outside (I was the ONLY one wanting to sit indoors). We wondered why....

At 6 sharp, all of us immediately began sticking on our fake lashes! Unanimously, we all bought fake lashes including Swee Yee! Nana had a mole on her left cheek so all of us want one on our face too!

Nana's "Place-the-Moley" ritual

So off we go! To Dempsey!

Dee, Joyce, Wenn and me reached 1st despite going by a longer route and Woods turned out to be quite erm..... kampong-ish!!! I'm serious! They have more outside seatings then indoor ones. The indoor and outdoor is a big contrast! We are really literally seating in the WOODS lor! 3 wooden tables joined together with 9 old ratten chairs (like the ones at Coffee Bean) surrounded by big plants and darkness. The tables had 3 tealight candles that keeps going off. I was so worried that I will become the feast for mosquitoes but good thing is there are mosquito coils on the floor. Very good lah, know how to put mosquito coils to prevent us from getting bitten but hor they just throw the coils on the food lei, they didn't really use something to hold it. Good thing that we are all wearing shoes not slippers if not we might have kick it and burn ourselves! It's so dark already how to see the coil?!

The 2 youngest there!

We got very uncomfortable especially when insects kept appearing from the grooves of the tables...like giant ants or some wierd looking kakas. The rest of them came and Nana told us that she is also quite surprised with this place because she has been to The Wine Company twice and the experience are far better that's why she recommended there.

In greens and blacks!

Looks like we were too prissy to be there. Hahaha.... We looked around. Other groups and tables seems like enjoying themselves - drinking wine and chatting. Machiam very relaxed. So it's only us. We are obviously at the wrong place that day! Spent some good time getting ready but in the end we sat in darkness.

Ordered some food and a bottle of Chenin Blanc (Africa). Had a little difficulty reading the menu and we saw from the next table that the lady was using a mini torch to read so we requested for 1 too. BUT... it didnt help much lor... the batteries are not very strong lor! Read the menu out loud to the girls so we can quickly order something as it was already 8+ and we are soooo soooo hungry!

The food came not too long (except for LayC's and Delia's 100% Prime beef burgers) and again... I have to repeat myself. It's TOO DARK TO SEE! So I came out with a Fantabulous way. Shoot it and make them see with my camera's LCD.

Here's the food!

It was a good thing that food didn't fail us. It managed to lift up our spirits abit. But we didn't stay long either. We wanted to get out of Dempsey but with 8 of us, it kinda post a problem as there weren't alot of cabs going in. So we thought of heading to Ben & Jerry's at Dempsey Hill to check it out.

The flowers are lined halfway and only on 1 side...

Ben and Jerry's were so crowded - just as expected. So we thought of P.S. Cafe. But P.S. Cafe is a very popular joint in Dempsey and it was a friday so we were merely trying our luck to see if we might just get lucky. So we hike down Dempsy Hill. And just when we thought we got lost, I spotted the sign right in front of me! Hahaha... We sent Nana and Wenn to check it out before the whole bunch of us move in. We then say Wenn waving us in and we were all so surprised. We were told that we have to wait for like.. 10 - 15mins.... I think fair enough, given we are such a big group.

We sat outside at the waiting area and the people inside kept looking at us! Especially the 2nd table with an Indian guy and 2 chinese ladies!!! They are damn no pro lor! Wanna talk about us be more discreet lah! I can see the 3 pairs of eyes checking all of us out! Then the Indian Guy will ask the 2 ladies something while looking at us and the 2 ladies will look and start to comment on something without shifting their eyes! I was so irritated that I told the grils to look back! Then they stop for a while. This was then I saw the waiters and waitresses pointing at us and discussing some stuff. Then a Malay girl came to us and ask if we are JUST SITTING here, or we had finished???? I was like thinking.... What JUST sitting here? Machiam sibeh cham like no where to go then don't want to spend money, so we just sat there lor... Goodness... I had to tell her that her colleague told us we had to wait like 15 mins.... She then told me... "Miss, we can't guarantee you because we don't know when will the customers leave." Then I said ok... we will wait and just nice a group of 6 left so she ask if I want to squeeze. Ok lor... Squeeze lor... anyway the rest of the girls so tiny. Haha...

I took a picture of him! Wahaha!

While I was talking to the waitress, LayC took out her DS and started playing and the Indian guy at the back so intrigued by it. Keep looking and asking his female counterparts and they are actually holding a conversation with lots of hand gestures and all 6 eyes glued to LayC's tiny LCD screen. Sibeh Buay Tahan. Sua ku!

Us(And a piece of Leaf...thanks ar.. waiter...)

Most of us got tired by 12am so we have decided to leave and head home(except Delia). And getting out of Dempsey without a car post a huge problem to us! Especially most of Us are in dresses and heels! We had decided to walk all the way out to the main road because one of our taxi uncle told us there were a shorter road out to the main road so we decided to try our luck.

But looks like we had made the wrong decision! We walked towards the playschool and it was really very dark! It didn't help that it was the 7th month and there were people burning joss paper.

We found a way but can we go thru????

In darkness, we go find out...

Joyce told us that we need to climb the railing...

Slowly we walk. Pass by a desserted house near Au Salut Petit and we can finally see the main road and it was then we discovered a path and it leads to an overhead bridge. Brave Joyce walked down and try to see if we can get there. Halfway thru, we turned back cos she told us we were all in skirts and dresses cannot climb the railings to get to the overhead bridge. Hahaha...

A cab came! Wanted Joyce to go 1st cos she is alone but uncle wanna go Tampines instead then the east-siders hopped on, leaving the Jurong girl and the North-siders to hike down to the main road....

Really quite a Night-out for Us! If it hasn't been all that unpleasant and unexpected, we would have just forgot about it soon enough!
